the Best Op Shops
Published 1 year, 6 months ago in Local services.can anyone tell me some really good op shops to go to. The ones around me ( Sunshine) have really outdated clothes. Anywhere west or CBD would be great.

The best op shops in Melbourne is Greville St, Prahan. They used to be cheaper but they are a bit trendy now. But still, you might be able to find some retro classics in this patch. It’s worth a trip on a Saturday morning.
Hi Jolsey,
You will find heaps of stuff (clothes, books, etc) at www.gumtree.com.au. Local people sell new & second hand stuff on the site, much cheaper than some opp shops sometimes.
Hello Directionless
My faves are
For kids and women’s clothes: The Bargain Hunter, run by the Brotherhood of St Laurence in Moonee Ponds - huge, barn-like place just behind Moonee Ponds station, very close to Puckle St (the Essendon side.
For toys (but they have HEAPS of stuff): St Vinnie’s on Maribyrnong Rd, Ascot Vale; just past the intersection of Union Rd, on the left as you head towards Highpoint.
For the best bargains ever (very cheap op shop), try the one on Union Rd, two doors from Taranto’s fruit and veg, not far from the intersection with Maribyrnong Rd.
This is not an op shop but also try Scanvengers in Sydney Rd, Brunswick. Great quality but prices are a little higher than op shops.
I went to one in Mason St Newport which was pretty good - and Barkly St West Footscray is well worth a look (or nook)
The mornington peninsula must have over 40 op-shops. The best one by far is the Three Legged Chair at 18 Progess St Mornington - all of their clothing is $1 all the time and its a pretty groovy shop [and big], plus they hand out maps to all the other op-shops in mornington.
You might like to try the Brotherhood shops. I love em…my fav is Brunswick Brother of St Laurence or West Heidelberg. Ask for Nilgen at West Heidelberg, she’s very helpful…
The Salvos on Ballarat Rd in Deer Park is worth a go. Lots of furniture, shoes
HI
I recommend MUFF in the Degraves St subway, under Flinders St station. It’s a consignment store so new, quality stuff every day - and great prices!
Here’s one to add to your list. There’s a new op shop opened in Brunswick. It’s called Eekos and it sells reused, recycled, local, fair-trade and environmentally friendly products.
